Compared with just 3 weeks ago, the beavers have really been busy, building up their lodge with additional wood and mud. I think they are anticipating the high water come spring. Â It is somewhat surreal to be able to see this activity from the kitchen window.
Oh wow. I must confess to finding that outstanding. Perhaps it is the foreigness of it all, or perhaps it is just the sense of awe that you can live right next to nature and watch from the comfort of your home, some ancient animal practice that has gone on before you and your house every existed and hopefully will go on long after you and your house.
I’m with Melissa, but am wondering, what do the dogs think?
Lynn: The dogs are oblivious. It’s outside their invisible fence. Beavers are crepuscular, and I haven’t even seen them. I have heard them moving through the cattails a couple of times.
