We had our first hard frost last night. (28F on the porch thermometer.) That makes for a busy morning with the camera before and shortly after sunrise.
Asian pear in the veggie garden.
Bottle tree and phlomis seedheads.
Unknown tree in the nursery bed.
Dwarf filipendula and heuchera. Lotsa shake. (It was still pretty dark out.) But kinda cool.
Beautiful! I especially like the pitcher plant image – and the asian pear leaves. It’s always strange for me – this time of year – to roam around and realize that it is already getting cold elsewhere. I remember that first hard frost in Michigan – you’d wake up and everything just sparkled – it was like the world changed overnight.
I was dreading that first frost…not ant more. Still, I suspect seeing it through your eyes (um, camera lens) is best).
ricki: Well, if you can’t find something cool to look at, then frost is a total bummer.
The first frost is always so lovely.
Very cool pictures! (Pun intended 🙂
Beautiful frost shots, especially that top one. We’re still swimming here, although the water is getting mighty chilly in the pool. I don’t expect a frost until Thanksgiving.
Wow, Craig, great shots. I’ve never seen frost look like that here, but I’ll have to venture out (early) on a frosty morn and see if I’ve been missing something. Usually I’m either on my way to work (and I leave before light) or sitting by the woodstove if I’m not working. I need to get out more.
Your frosty photos are spectacular, Craig! Each picture just screams, “Autumn!” I love the visible crystals on the Filipendula — an outstanding peek at your fall color.
