Update [7/15/2009]: I always forget to mention that you should try scanning yourself. It’s easy. I have an activity for children and youth with instructions for how to scan flowers over at The Bulb Project website.

I always enjoy your scans. The filipendula appears white in the scan. Is it becasue the scan didn’t pick up the color??

The single rose (last scan) would make a – can I use the word radical here? – piece of wall art… I’d do at least 4ft by 4ft:)

Les: The blackberry was a volunteer in one of my front yard beds, probably brought in by a bird. I couldn’t bear to pull it. They’re beautiful.
Lisa: My pink filipendula runs a little behind the white. The white was growing wild here when I moved in, though I’ve transplanted it around to various beds. It’s not as spectacular as the pink. But I still like it.
Miss canthus: I’ve always wanted to try Salix mélanostachys. Will have to get a cutting from someone one of these days.
Jackie: There aren’t enough pixels in the scan to do 4 x 4 foot print without doing some filter effects. Maybe I’ll have to get a better scanner one of these days. I have printed out some of these maybe 2 x 3. But they come out pretty pixellated.
Blackswamp Kim: Yes, that’s ‘Terracotta’. I’ve got lots of muddy white yarrows growing wild around here and invading the veggie garden and other beds. This one is really nice, though.

Absolutely beautiful. I particularly like the way the nicotiana comes across. I never thought of scanning flowers, and it works famously.
I don’t know about scans. You certainly get fabulous photos. I have that Cuisse de Nymph, but photos never have that clarity. I’m off to learn how to do it. Thanks.
