  1. “Doesn’t that belong at the dump?”

    What happens to these structures when they’re “done”? In a natural setting, I can imagine just letting them collapse and decay on their own over the years. Their decomposition would be as much a part of the project as their construction. Clearly, that’s not possible in urban settings.

  2. These are planned to be up for just a year. Patrick says that in most climates, three or four years is about the limit — maybe longer in arid environments.

    In an urban setting like this, they’re basically cut down. Patrick told me that the once-flexible, now-contorted branches make great material for building ornamental fences. I plan to be there with the pickup truck on demolition day.
