Fallen peonies

I don’t stake anything other than tomatoes. It rains alot this time of year. The results are predictable.

They’s still fragrant and fabulous, even if you have to get down close to take them in.

  1. Lovely. What kind of light do they get? Looking to give my sad crop a better life…

  2. The location of these is pretty marginal. Peonies prefer full sun and the proverbial ‘rich, moist but well-drained’ soil (which I have little or none of). This site gets some direct sun in the middle of the day, and the soil is a little on the heavy and wet side. (Not compared with other soil on our place. Just compared to garden beds in general.)

Peonies don’t like being moved, and they take awhile to settle in and take off. So the usual advice is to pick a good spot (drainage being critical), improve the soil, plant them, then have patience.
