Cornell’s president, David Skorton, spent Friday touring the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and learning more about what we’re up to. At the end of the day, he ended up at our greenhouses to hear about our flower bulb research, among other efforts. While I was waiting for him to arrive, I shot these tulip pictures.
There was much discussion of the last one. Love it? Hate it? What do you think?

It’s a research greenhouse. So no, it’s not open to the public. Sorry.

I love it… but I love the one above it even more. (I have a thing for ‘Princes Irene’ and other “striped” tulips.)
The last flower…interesting in a gaudy sort of way.
Love them! Their happy floppiness reminds me of my Mom’s hanging geraniums on our old back patio. A bit more loose and carefree than ye olde tulip 🙂 thanks for sharing the secret stuff!

I’ve never even seen anything like the last ones but I find them quite captivating – sort of like the tulip version of a female impersonator.
