The funky weather and lousy light has slowed down my picture-taking this spring. But it looks like spring is finally here and the spring ephemerals are taking off.

Iris reticulata
Combination of being busy and weird weather hasn’t made for many early-season photo opps. But I did manage to get out a little over the weekend with the Iris reticulata in full bloom.

We still have snow on the ground (and this afternoon a little snow in the air). But there are some sure signs of spring.

Sunday walk-around
Drizzly Sunday morning. Good weather for some somewhat-soft shots of what’s going on around the garden these days.
I tend to take the asters that grow in the ‘unmanaged’ areas for granted. But occasionally I spot one that’s ‘garden-worthy’.
The bed where I have all my colchicums (from Cold-Climate Kathy and other places) has filled in a lot. I’ll rationalize that I like them better when you have to look for them, rather them coming up ‘nude’ with nothing by mulch around them.
The veggie garden border, still my favorite — what with the grasses and the bottles.
