Darn close to single digits this morning. What’s a gardener to do? Take some pictures, I guess. Click on images for larger view.
Clump of alders near the stream.
Same clump, closer with old apple in background.
Poplar, apple and maple.
Miscanthus leaves.
Molinia seedheads.

Beautiful, cold pictures.
At the moment I can only say gorgeous but unbearable. Last winter was so long and intense that I am not ready for it to begin again. Our highs these days are the normal lows.
See, winter can be a good thing. And I don’t know about you, but I’m a bit gardened out, and welcome the cold days that keep inside reading and writing (and–I suppose–grading).
These photos are Christmas card worthy, sorry it would be more correct to say “holiday” card worthy.
