Or fun with poinsettias. I need some good winter-month scans if I’m ever going to do that calendar. Click on images for larger view (except the blingee at the end).
The pieces: Three poinsettia ‘blossoms’ (tough to fit on the scanner bed) and a page of scraps. Yeah, latex on the scanner bed was an issue.
Thought about stopping at this point:
Couldn’t help myself, I had to try at least a little blingee.
Calendar and Chistmas card worthy!
Yes, these will be a great addition to a calendar of your scans! I’m looking forward to seeing that. I especially like the one with the snow. That’s very festive.
Thanks for joining in for bloom day again.
Your scans are just marvelous and will make a fabulous calender! What a treat.

Hiya Scan-Man,
Such fun these rich pictures.
Oops, there’s more. Sparkles no less.
I reckon you win the prize. If there isn’t one, then there ought to be for something so interesting.
What would Christmas be without beautiful Poinsettas! You have a wonderful variety of colors displayed today for GBBD!
I just loved your poinsettia presentation! The photos would make gorgeous Christmas cards! Jan
I loved the blingee! Sign me up for a couple of the calendars — and Jan is right about Christmas cards. I am actually using paintings of gardens for my cards this year and not winter scenes either. But a card with a poinsettia like the very dark flower or the “leaves” would be a welcome choice.
At my house, we’re listening to James Taylor sing “Hard Times Come Again No More” and Paul Robeson’s “Joe Hill” and Buffy St. Marie’s version of “The Universal Soldier.”
You found some really different and beautiful Poinsettias. I’d buy them if I saw them. The only different ones around here are blue or purple. ‘Nuff said.
Very festive!
Beautiful poinsettias. Really put me in the Christmas spirit!
Thanks for the kind words, all.
MMD: I should have credited our undergrad student plant club at Cornell, Hortus Forum, for the variety picks. They sell poinsettias (and have other plant sales through the year) to raise money for field trips and other activities.
Very cool, Craig. I vote them Christmas-card-worthy, too. 🙂
The scans are always awesome. Have you started selling them yet? Seems like a profit center.
What fabulous photos! And I loved the sparkles. We had real sparkles and crystal over the weekend as we came through a huge ice storm. I had to put up two posts – one a not very inspiring Bloom Day, and a more dramatic posting about the ice storm.
OH MY!!! I love these. I hope it was okay to place the first shot into my background. It is absolutely gorgeous! It make me smile every time I see it.
Fantastic! I’m with Joco-you win! What model scanner are you using? Does it scan hard copy photographs as well as it does flowers? I need to get something to replace my Jurassic 1998 HP officejet printer, and I’m digging what yours seems to do!
lisa:
The scanner is nothing special. It’s a PrimaScan Colorado 2400u — a cast off from a coworker who moved on to another model.
Maybe someday I’ll shell out big bucks for something with a bigger platen so I can fit larger flowers on it. But for now, it’s not the limiting factor. My skill is.
Hogwash to your last comment – I don’t see any skill limits. You are just too modest. This latest scan is fabulous! I’m another one standing in line for the calendar.
