Belated May bloom day scans

Sorry these are late. Busy spring. And it’s not like I’ve been spending a lot of time in the garden, either. Can barely stay ahead of the grass, much less the weeds. Oh well.

Thanks, as usual, for Carol for hosting at May Dreams. More scans here. Flower scanning directions are here.

Leucojum vernum and thalia daffs

Dicentra spectabilis complete with water and pollen, which is pretty much what this spring has been about.

April bloom day scans

April bloom day is always one of my favorites. I can concentrate all the little gems from around an otherwise pretty bleak (though greening-up quickly) landscape onto the scanner bed. Only thing better is getting down on my belly to shoot these gems in situ.

Slim pickin’s around here. (Sweet potato, begonia, violets, lantana.) Just wasn’t in the mood for one of those sullen dead plants scan.

I also fiddled around some with the same material using David Perry’s ‘Macro in a Mason jar’ technique. I still have a few technical bugs to work out. I’m not real proud of my efforts, but will probably scoot over to Gardening Gone Wild to enter in the ‘Picture This’ photo contest that David is judging.
