Hard frost
Is it weird that this is one of my favorite days of the seasoon?
We’ve had a couple of browning-the-edges-of-the-tropicals frosts. But Friday night-Saturday morning we had the killer — more than 12 hours below freezing, bottoming out around 24F. Gave me plenty of work to do this weekend composting blackened flesh from containers and other fragile plants in the ground.

File this under why I love my job. Yesterday, Marcia Eames-Sheavly’s Art of Horticulture class built built a sod sofa on the Ag Quad. It took them the better part of the afternoon. But here it is in 60 seconds:
