But Rick hooked me. \u00c2\u00a0That&#8217;s because he does some things well that\u00c2\u00a0I\u00c2\u00a0think all\u00c2\u00a0us\u00c2\u00a0garden\u00c2\u00a0bloggers\u00c2\u00a0should\u00c2\u00a0strive to emulate:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Interesting original content not found anywhere else.<\/li>\n<li>Content that extends far beyond one particular garden, including many posts of <a HREF=\"http:\/\/whisperingcraneinstitute.wordpress.com\/2007\/03\/05\/linnaeus-and-the-flower-clock\/\">historical interest<\/a>. \u00c2\u00a0(I wish more bloggers would help sieve through that stuff and glean the best for the rest of us.)<\/li>\n<li>And most importantly:  <strong>Consistently interesting graphic content<\/strong>. \u00c2\u00a0(For example, these colorful options for <a HREF=\"http:\/\/whisperingcraneinstitute.wordpress.com\/2007\/03\/04\/natures-call\/\">visiting Quito<\/a>.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Not\u00c2\u00a0treating\u00c2\u00a0graphic\u00c2\u00a0content\u00c2\u00a0as an afterthought is  especially important  for those of us who come to blogging\u00c2\u00a0primarily as writers.  Gardening is largely a visual experience. \u00c2\u00a0Reading online is a chore.  Looking at pictures is easy.  And Rick&#8217;s pictures carry a lot of thought-provoking content.  It&#8217;s no coincidence that he&#8217;s a landscape-design professional.<\/p>\n<p>So when you can&#8217;t read any more, head over to the WCI and page through the old posts.
