O&#8217;Rourke.  (I seldom agree with his politics.  But he&#8217;s always entertaining.)<\/p>\n<p>Wherein O&#8217;Rourke and family visit Disney&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.disneylandevent.com\/tsm\/27-dreamhome.html\">The Innoventions Dream Home<\/a> (that&#8217;s the 1957 version at right) and discover the future ain&#8217;t what it used to be.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p> Bruce Handy, writing in Time &#8230; went on, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s not a novel observation to point out that our culture has become increasingly backward looking.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>Well, given the future envisioned in Disney\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s House of the Future, who can blame us for looking the other way?<\/p>\n<p>Disney\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Tomorrowland is deeply, thoroughly, almost furiously unimaginative. This isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t the fault of the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Disney culture\u00e2\u20ac\u009d; it is the fault of <em><strong> our culture<\/strong><\/em>. We seem to have entered a deeply unimaginative era.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>But please.
