(I don&#8217;t know how their editors stole that prime real estate from the ad department.)<\/p>\n<p>But if you plant enough stuff and get it mixing around, you can&#8217;t help but come up with a few mixtures that don&#8217;t look too bad.<\/p>\n<p>Verbascums, albutilon and more off the patio.<br \/>\n<a href=\"images\/verbascum_patio1x1200.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/verbascum_patio1x500.jpg\" alt=\"plant combo\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Clematis, goatsbeard (<em>Aruncus<\/em>) and grape vines.<br \/>\n<a href=\"images\/clematis_goatsbeard_grapex1200.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/clematis_goatsbeard_grapex500.jpg\" alt=\"plant combo\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Heucheras, violets, lysimachia, alchemilla.<br \/>\n<a href=\"images\/heuchera_lysimachiax1200.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/heuchera_lysimachiax500.jpg\" alt=\"plant combo\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Hosta, astilbe.<br \/>\n<a href=\"images\/hosta_astilbex1200.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/hosta_astilbex500.jpg\" alt=\"plant combo\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Monarda, lysimachia, volunteer grass and sumac. (Actually, I hate the color of this monarda. But it&#8217;s the one that thrives around our place.)<br \/>\n<a href=\"images\/monarda_lysimachiax1200.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/monarda_lysimachiax500.jpg\" alt=\"plant combo\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Napaea dioica<\/em>, geranium, daylily, iris. Flowers aren&#8217;t great now. But I like the foliage combo.<br \/>\n<a href=\"images\/napeae_geranium_daylilyx1200.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/napeae_geranium_daylilyx500.jpg\" alt=\"plant combo\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Phlomis, Scotch thistle, <em>Bottlis cobaltis<\/em>, lots of other stuff.<br \/>\n<a href=\"images\/phlomis_scotch_thistlex1200.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/phlomis_scotch_thistlex500.jpg\" alt=\"plant combo\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A verbascum species I don&#8217;t remember, necteroscordum, coneflowers and more. I like ripe seedheads among other blooms at all stages. Or maybe I&#8217;m just too lazy to deadhead.<br \/>\n<a href=\"images\/verbascum_echineaceax1200.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/verbascum_echineaceax500.jpg\" alt=\"plant combo\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Stachy, chives, trough sedums and more.<br \/>\n<a href=\"images\/stachys_troughx1200.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/stachys_troughx500.jpg\" alt=\"plant combo\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Sorbaria and Asimina (pawpaw).<br \/>\n<a href=\"images\/sorbaria_pawpawx1200.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/sorbaria_pawpawx500.jpg\" alt=\"plant combo\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Bog garden is still a few weeks from peak. Filipendulas, malvas, veronicastrum, monarda, tradescantia, lysimachia, <em>Verbena hastata<\/em>, buttonbush, willows.
