That focused me (<a HREF=\"http:\/\/www.remarc.com\/craig\/?p=252\">mostly<\/a>) on shooting grasses Sunday morning.<\/p>\n<p>They&#8217;re at their best morning and evening when the sun is low, and provide different viewing experiences depending on your  perspective, for example looking into the sun (above) or with the sun at your back (below).<\/p>\n<p><a HREF=\"images\/grasses_morning5x1200.jpg\"><img SRC=\"images\/grasses_morning5x500.jpg\" ALT=\"grasses, sun at back\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>They&#8217;re easier to shoot in the morning before the wind picks up and <a HREF=\"http:\/\/www.remarc.com\/craig\/?p=233\">puts them in motion<\/a>.  (See <a HREF=\"http:\/\/www.remarc.com\/craig\/?p=233\">videos<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>I didn&#8217;t think I&#8217;d like this variegated miscanthus when I planted it.  It&#8217;s now my favorite.  It&#8217;s backed by <em>M. sinensis<\/em> &#8216;Gracimillus&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p><a HREF=\"images\/variegated_miscanthusx1200.jpg\"><img SRC=\"images\/variegated_miscanthusx500.jpg\" ALT=\"variegated miscanthus\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m always amazed how red <em>Panicum virgatum<\/em> &#8216;Shenandoah&#8217; gets, here bent over in the dew.<\/p>\n<p><a HREF=\"images\/shenandoahx1200.jpg\"><img SRC=\"images\/shenandoahx500.jpg\" ALT=\"shenandoah\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Another favorite that I incorrectly identified as <em>Panicum<\/em> &#8216;Heavy Metal&#8217; in a previous post.  (Sorry Kim.)  It&#8217;s either &#8216;Dallas Blues&#8217; or possibly &#8216;Cloud Nine&#8217; according to my less than adequate records.<\/p>\n<p><a HREF=\"images\/panicum2x1200.jpg\"><img SRC=\"images\/panicum2x500.jpg\" ALT=\"panicum\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And a close-up of the seedheads:<\/p>\n<p><a HREF=\"images\/panicum1x1200.jpg\"><img SRC=\"images\/panicum1x500.jpg\" ALT=\"panicum\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Molinia<\/em> &#8216;Skyracer&#8217; is a little slow to get going, mostly because I have it too close to some Eupatoriums that shade it some.<\/p>\n<p><a HREF=\"images\/moliniax1200.jpg\"><img SRC=\"images\/moliniax500.jpg\" ALT=\"molinia skyracer\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A &#8216;blonde&#8217; sedge in the water garden, and <em>Miscanthus floridulus<\/em> blocking the traffic from the road.<\/p>\n<p><a HREF=\"images\/fall_sedgex500.jpg\"><img SRC=\"images\/fall_sedgex250.jpg\" ALT=\"molinia skyracer\" \/><\/a><a HREF=\"images\/m_floriduluslsx500.jpg\"><img SRC=\"images\/m_floriduluslsx250.jpg\" ALT=\"miscanthus floridulus\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s been a pretty good year for the <em>M. floridulus<\/em>.  It&#8217;s about 12 feet tall and hasn&#8217;t flowered yet.  It&#8217;s flowered a couple times in the half dozen years I&#8217;ve had it.  It&#8217;s not as strong as bamboo.  But I use it for wattles and pea trellis (in conjunction with metal fenceposts and woven wire).<\/p>\n<p><a HREF=\"images\/m_floridulusx1200.jpg\"><img SRC=\"images\/m_floridulusx500.jpg\" ALT=\"miscanthus floridulus\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t have an ID on this grass.
