Being of a certain vintage, I remember this music well and enjoyed all three. It introduced the idea of quiet meloncholy into a childhood Christmas.
Maybe affirming that a touch of melancholy at the solstice is OK? Maybe that’s the attraction.

On the turntable every Christmas. Happy twist of fate that a children’s show immortalizes an otherwise unknown but great sessions pianist.
