Early June image dump

Late-spring/early summer has been whizzing by. Life’s been busy and haven’t had a chance to take many pix. And I’ve been slow to get them onto the blog. Here are some random shots to get caught up.

I notice that I’m shooting a lot of ’tilted’ shots. (The house in the background is the biggest giveaway.) Not sure why. I don’t think I’m doing it on purpose. I guess I just don’t feel obligated to level the camera any more.

Lupines and bunching onions in the veggie garden. (No I don’t eat the lupines. They’re joost for pretty.)

  1. that is some interesting artemesia – or is it just the angle of the photo? I am used to the mounding type (used to killing it that is, with too little sunlight) that has skinnier leaves but more of them.

  2. Sounds like ‘Silver Mound’ artemisia. I’ve killed a few of those, too.

There are a bazillion species and varieties. I’ve got at least three growing around here: A couple silvery, one variegated yellow and green when it’s young then turning into a dull green 4-foot tall ugly mass by midseason.

  3. Okay, see… you have the same thing going on that I do. The main subject in the photo seems to be straight, and I KNOW that my house is level… but when the photo comes out, the house is always slanted when the subject is straight, and vice-versa. (Even if the plant is on a straight stem, like my allium!)

That said, I love the photos–especially the ones of the variegated Solomon’s seal. And the lupine.
