Son Nate is back in the USA. His last fling in China was a bike trip through Inner Mongolia, best as I can tell. Here are some of his excellent pix.

Uh… WOW! I was going to say that I loved that funky wooden ceiling… until I saw the statues hewn out of the rock. Amazing! Thank you for sharing these, Craig.
Wonderful and fascinating. Did he go by himself?
For me it was the eroded quilt gully where the Wow really kicked in and then rolled on through the beams, peaking through at the statue blessing visitors, the kids, the teenagers. Great.great.great. I love too the temple in the lake. We have a monument in Sydney that sits next to a constructed water feature and when it was built it would have dominated the view but now the city stands above and around it and you mentally have to remove the city to get at the intention of the people who created the tranquil or magnificent monument all those years ago. Where’s your son going to next? Can’t wait.
What a trip! What photos! What a son! You are fortunate. We were in China for two years, but aside from my husband’s trip to Harbin for the Winter Festival, any travelling we got to do was to the south of Beijing. I’m sorry we didn’t get to see those grasslands, and other delights.
That Nate is having one hell of a trip! Is he cycling through? His load looks fairly light so maybe not. On foot or by wheel, he’s sending us back some incredible images. I’d love to know more of the stories. Thanks for sharing 🙂
WOW is right – great photos and total awe for a young man doing a trip like this one. Thanks for sharing.
