I actually saw this live on the TV machine this afternoon. (Made me a little verklempt to see old Pete up there on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.) But it wasn’t until I saw this dairy at the top of the DailyKos recommended list that I realized that he had restored the lost versus this Woody Guthrie classic.

Oh yeah. And he did it without a jacket.
but he has a rad hat! Makes me verklepmt, too. thanks.
I saw it live too, but will enjoy it again, Craig!
What killed me was watching how fast that 89-year old Pete Seeger could walk when they left the stage. The word spry was invented for him.

And — like a good upstate New Yorker — he did it in a wool shirt and a stocking cap.
That was THE moment of that concert. I actually have the same clip posted on my blog. Completely amazing.
I read that Kos diary, too. The song is so much more meaningful when you hear it the way Guthrie wrote it—less of a “feel good” song and more of a “power to the people” type of thing. I love it.
Happy Inauguration Day!
