Iris histrioides ‘Katharine Hodgkin’ – Almost open

When I posted a few days ago about the snow destroying my favorite spring ephemeral (Iris histrioides ‘Katharine Hodgkin’), I forgot that I still had these images in the camera from just before the snow.

Couldn’t decide which view I liked best, so here are three.

  1. How beautiful – and I remember stopping by here at some point last spring, and seeing wonderful irises. I do believe that this means that it is springtime again.

  2. Oh! Such an early death for such a lovely. I am sad for you. Happy you were able to see it for a little while (and share 🙂 Hope the nice warm temps keep going.

  3. me again. What’s the definition of “ephemeral” in the garden? Time of year? Like right when it might snow again? Silly things 😉

  4. We wait all winter for this. We’re not quite as far along as you, but close, and I am restless with anticipation. I enjoy your gorgeous photography and eclectic interests.
This is a question out of the blue, but do you have or know of anyone with experience in bridge grafting a wounded tree? Our young crabapple tree was girdled by rabbits (above its trunk wrap) and I would like to try to save it.
