June bloom day scans

I’m late to the party again. Sorry. Seems like it wasn’t long ago that I had to scour the garden to come up with a single scan. Now I just pick a couple themes and fill three scans without covering half of what’s flowering.

Mostly pinks and purples: Peonies, bearded iris, bearberry, violas, dame’s rocket, pinks, willow.

Mostly whites: goatsbeard, nectoscordum, persicaria, daisies, violas, bishops weed, arrowwood, anemone, columbine.

Mostly grays: artemisia, Scotch thistle, verbascum, plume poppy, hosta, lambs ears, begonia.

  1. Very unique, your gardens must be quite pretty right now. In looking at what you have blooming, it seems like your flowers are several weeks, if not a month, behind mine as far as what is blooming. My peonies were finished several weeks ago, for example. I do like the scans and look forward to seeing what you will have blooming in July, maybe a yellow or orange flower?

Thanks for participating in Garden Bloggers’ Bloom Day again.

  2. I had some orange — a raggedy poppy or two left over and the euphorbia I posted an image of recently. And there’s always lots of yellow going on (lysmachia, sedums, to name two). Just too many flowers and not enough time.

Actually, my garden isn’t overflowing with color. It’s balanced by a lot of foliage and grasses. You have to go looking for the color. The scans just concentrate it all.

  3. I’m glad you’re still doing beautiful and interesting scans. I thought I would put up some wildflower scans for the Bloom Day because there weren’t many interesting plants blooming right now but the work of having to transfer them from my other computer was too much work so I didn’t. Good to know you’ve kept up with the scans. One day I’ll post mine too.

  4. Lovely scans! I like the middle picture a lot.
Just want to say thanks for the link you left in my comments, regarding the hogweed. I found out it wasn’t the dangerous one after all, what a relief!

  5. Craig, I like all of the scans… but I drooled over the silver one. Wow… what texture there!

I don’t know how you cut down that verbascum before it bloomed, though. Will you get more stalks on that plant, but shorter, like you would with a hollyhock? Or will it just wait and try again next year since it didn’t get to complete the second and final year of its life cycle?

  6. Hey, just trying to catch up. These are great. I’m envious of the goatsbeard – it’s never done well for me here. And the thistle is gorgeous! I love the greens and greys. You must be enjoying your garden now – oh, I’m looking into trout lilies – what a good suggestion! I hadn’t thought of them in awhile, but they would like it here I think.
