Hard frost

Is it weird that this is one of my favorite days of the seasoon?

We’ve had a couple of browning-the-edges-of-the-tropicals frosts. But Friday night-Saturday morning we had the killer — more than 12 hours below freezing, bottoming out around 24F. Gave me plenty of work to do this weekend composting blackened flesh from containers and other fragile plants in the ground.

Here are some pix from Saturday morning …

  1. Very weird that you like the hard frost! (Just kidding… 😉 The bottle manipulation is fun and geometric. I think that the pic of the fuzzy castor bean leaf is my favorite, though. Not sure why, exactly, but I think it’s especially cool.

  2. Wow that was a killer but so pretty! I like the dahlia image best–nice change of perspective. How hardy is papyrus? It doesn’t look like it suffered at all!
