Late summer pix

Labor Day marks the second ‘last day of summer’ around here. (The first being when students returned to Cornell. The third, of course, is the day before the equinox.) Still some nuggets around in the garden.

Scabiosa.

Still haven’t figured out how to shoot cleome. Guess I’ll just have to enjoy it in situ.

  1. OH! that’s what that is called – cleome?

sad that the blooming season is coming to an end, but fall is beautiful, and full of its own gardening work (bulbs to put in, leaves to rake, leaves to rake, leaves to rake….) 😉

  2. Lovely! I am missing the yellow-purplescape of goldenrod and Joe Pye and probably asters starting up. The JP and boneset you gave us were doing wonderfully at the edge of the ditch, and I hope they spread there. We live near a park with a small wildflower garden with a few of each of these and some perennial sunflowers of some kind. It’s nice to see it there. We’re lucky to have patches like that around. Keep the photos coming!
